Easter Festivities 2011

This is how the Easter festivities played out this year:

* Took the girls to get their picture taken with the Easter Bunny. Bianca had actually ASKED to go and see him on several occassions so I thought that maybe she had turned a new leaf this year and would no longer be afraid of the bunny and Santa. Not so...when we arrived at the mall, this is the look that I got along with, "I don't want to see the Easter Bunny".

No amount of bribing could convince her. So I did what any mom with a 17 month old would do. I placed Ellia on the Easter Bunny's lap and told them to snap a picture as fast as they could. Am I the meanest mom in the world or what? At least I have a picture with one of them this year!

All was quickly forgotten though as the girls spotted the train close by. It made it even better that Auntie Parissa was here visiting and was able to ride with them!

*Bianca had an Easter party at school complete with an egg hunt and another visit with the Easter Bunny. I think that the "bunny" was actually just someone wearing bunny ears because Bianca informed me that it was not the "real Easter Bunny" and her teachers claim that she is in their group picture.

*We arrived home from the school party just in time to open a box of Easter gifts from Zarin-joon and Papa Teddy. These girls never get tired of all of the gifts that they receive in the mail and were quite pleased with their chocolate bunnies and adorable clothes.

* On Thursday Lisa and Julianna came over to color eggs, eat bunny cake and go on yet another egg hunt. Fun was had by all and us mommies even had some quiet time to relax on the couch while Ellia slept and the big girls played.

* On Friday we attended a b-day party at My Gym for one of Bianca's school friends. This has nothing to do with Easter but, just figured I would throw them in.

*And, of course, Easter morning I awoke to hear Bianca talking about her bike that the Easter Bunny had brought her and sneaking some candy from her basket before anyone else was up. She ran in my room and pulled me out of bed saying, "Mommy, Mommy, come look!". She then proceeded to ride the bike all over the house. Shortly there after she needed a break on the ground with her thumb, blankies and pillow pet.

* Finally, we spent the day at the Fairchild Botanical Garden - beautiful!

This is Yoko Ono's wishing tree at the garden. There are thousands (I guess) of small pieces of paper that people have placed on the tree with their wishes. She is supposed to take them to Iceland as part of a memorial for John Lennon sometime soon.

Bianca writing out her wish. Just for the record, it had something to do with a dolphin.

This is typically what I get when I try to take pictures of Bianca. Wonder where she got this from?

Another typical family picture. Daddy is trying to get the girls to look at the camera while smiling himself. Ellia is playing with baby wipes and Bianca really can't be bothered.

Beach Days Are Here!

As of the end of March the temperatures out here shot right up from the low 80s to summer temps of high 80s. What else to do but hit the beach? Fortunately, we had family in town visiting to keep us company. Day one of our two-day beach excursion was spent at the Ft. Lauderdale Beach with Pop-Pop Jim and Mom-Mom Dolores. Ellia and Bianca plopped themselves down at the edge of the water and stayed there until it was time to go. Ellia kept herself (and everyone else) busy by dumping buckets of water on herself and then demanding that someone go and refill them and bring them right back to her. Bianca was busy digging, digging, digging and building sandcastles with Pop-Pop Jim. Day two took place in Highland Beach where Uncle Jim and Aunt Chara were staying. They have a private beach there and it was so nice to practically have the beach to ourselves! Once again, Bianca kept busy in the sand. She was a little intimidated of the water initially but, went out pretty deep into the water with Uncle Jim by the end of the day.

A perfect beach day!

Day 2 in Highland Beach...

Everyone is busy in their own way...
